This camp was located in Northern Germany, in a town named Ravensbruck. Hitler decided to establish an all women’s camp here because it was out of the way, but at the same time it was very easy to reach. It was a small village in a gorgeous area with many lakes and forests. It was not far from Furstenberg. A easy accessible road connected Ravensbruck and Furstenberg, where a rail station was located. This railway travelled directly to Berlin (Ravensbrück Concentration Camp). It was about 50 miles north of Berlin (USHMM).
These are modern photos of the area of Ravensbruck. (Photos taken from Tripomatic).
