Officially, there were 132,000 victims incarcerated at Ravensbruck. Out of the 132,000, 92,000 died (USHMM). Most of these prisoners were women, but there was a small section of the camp that held men. The first prisoners arrived on May 18th, 1939; this group was made up of 860 German women and 7 Austrian women. After the war the population became more international, women came from 20 different European Countries. Gypsies were also sent to Ravensbruck. A small part of the population was made up of children, who were brutally murdered (Ravensbruck Concentration Camp).
